  112. To Install TalkScribe on your PC
  113.  
  114. If your TalkScribe installation files are contained on floppy disks, or
  115. CD-ROM, follow the directions on the disks or CD-ROM to install
  116. TalkScribe.
  117.  
  118. If your TalkScribe installation files are contained in a compressed file
  119. (for distribution by downloading via modem) with filename ending in
  120. ".zip", perform the following steps to install TalkScribe:
  121.  
  122. 1.  Create a temporary directory on your hard disk and unzip the contents
  123. of the compressed file into it (using a file compress/extract utility
  124. such as WinZip or PKUnzip).
  125.  
  126. 2.  From the Windows 3.1 program manager File | Run menu, or the Windows
  127. 95 Start menu, run TLKSC101.EXE (in the temporary directory).  Follow the
  128. directions as the InstallShield utility performs the installation on your
  129. PC.
  130.  
  131. 3.  After InstallShield exits, you may delete the temporary directory and
  132. the files in it.
  133.  
  134. If you downloaded the file TLKSC101.EXE, perform step 2 above.

  137. To remove TalkScribe from you PC
  138.  
  139. When you installed TalkScribe on your PC, the installation software
  140. placed and icon named "UnInstall TalkScribe" in the program group you
  141. specified for placement of the TalkScribe icons.  To remove TalkScribe
  142. from your computer click (Windows 95) or double-click (Windows 3.1) on
  143. the UnInstall TalkScribe icon.

  147. TalkScribe contains two components:
  148.  
  149. 1) a sound file player that lets you play sound (.wav) files containing
  150. spoken words, and
  151.  
  152. 2) a text editor where you can type text into your computer as you listen
  153. to the sound file.

  155. TalkScribe has special keystrokes that allow you to start, stop, and
  156. backspace sound playback as you type - your hands need not leave the
  157. keyboard. With TalkScribe, you control sound playback with special
  158. keystrokes in much the same way that you would use foot pedals on a
  159. dictation transcribing machine. For example, pressing <control>-<space>
  160. while a sound file is playing will stop playback. Pressing
  161. <control>-<space> again will restart playback.

  228. The demo version of TalkScribe is freely available for downloading via

  232. minutes playing time.
